Some amazingly bad ass cars in that movie.....Ive somewhat recently realized how shitty those movies actually are...looking past the cars, those movies suck. Horrible plot, shitty acting, bad editing. Yet still cool somehow
sixcarb, The Highway Patrol episode with the roadster can be seen on youtube… They imply the hotrod is supercharged - there is a good shot of the "supercharger" at 8:17. It also had a Howards Cams decal on the driver side, and an iskanderian on the passenger side. Post #25 Hemi32 has several stills of the hotrod, but if you want to hear it squeal the tires in dirt, watch the video Highway Patrol in Hot Rod https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gHvD...feature=relmfu or http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gHvDe4D7KVQ
Anyone notice that the movie tagline / description really does not really represent the plot of the movie? Maybe they realized the real movie wasn't exciting enough and decided to "misrepresent" the plot???
The best part of Hot Rod Girl is Chuck Connors as Officer Ben Merril. Two years later he was Lucas McCain in "The Rifleman." One of the best western TV shows of all time IMO. I watch it every day on MeTV. Also the kid that plays "Flattop" later becomes the Riddler on Batman. My favorite scene is when the punk with the white channeled Deuce roadster picks a fight with Steve's black roadster. He is pacing Steve, then pulls around, slams the column shift into reverse and backs into Steve to provoke a race. Like that would happen in real life!
My favorite in Hot Rod Girl is the line to the girl they call LP as she is always running her mouth. "Hey LP, why don't you flip the record." Classic.
Arch Hall Jr. was awesome in "The Choppers." I believe that was Tommy Ivo's T that Hall drove throughout the movie. The Burnt Rubber DVD collection that came out a few years ago has all these old movies on it. I have watched them all numerous times. My sig is from the drag racing scene from the movie "The Devil on Wheels" from 1947.
Hey thanks a lot, I just watched cool as heck. The car is different these days since it was unchanneled in the early 70's with a Flathead.
As far as B movies...this was pretty good. Starring the riddler and the Rifleman! Awesome! can't believe I've never seen this one.
That Corvette in Hot Rods to Hell looked like it was gonna throw a rod through the entire movie, smoked like a freight train and sounded like a Jaguar....Movie magic Brian
Be sure to checkout texdesoto's March 2010 Hot Rods To Hell thread ... It includes the entire movie (in 10 YouTube clips), several stills of the cars in the movie, and some interesting commentary!
Sixcarb, Are there any photos of the changes you described to that to that hotrod? I could not identify the "supercharger" they referenced - looks like a couple of strombergs The ohv was done well, but I am becoming more attracted to the flatheads.
