Looks like a painting of a channeled 32 5w. I thought we were going to be looking at a real car.

  6. Funny

  7. Are you talking about the painting?

It's a artist interpretation,,impressionistic, kinda resembles the coupe on the Beach Boys album cover. HRP

Sorry to be misleading, and yes it is an interpretation but I am sure there was a photograph used in this painting. Did the beach boys car have the quad headlights?

  10. Oh brother - its not even a good interpretation of a hot rod

The beach boys album cover is all over Google to compare .
Those headlight brackets in the painting were commercially available a few years later than the Chilli's coupe as seen on the album cover.

I was questioning if there was a resemblance, not saying it is the beach boys album cover car. Soo, we can agree we are still looking for the inspiration for this picture...

  12. Sooo-You got a frog in your pocket ?

It would seem to be in the mind of the artist.
It looks like everything and nothing at the same time

to quote your original inquiry: "...at least that's when the PICTURE was taken". Now....is there a PHOTOGRAPH of a coupe of some kind, or are you just bent on upping everyone's post count? Researching a painting like that is a major waste of time. Just because you're SURE it was done from a photograph does not ensure that as a fact. Looks quite like the "Beach Boys" coupe, but looking at the background, I'd guess it was from that little-known album of ski music done by the "Snow Boys".

  14. could be any east coast coupe channeled not chopped

  15. I really doubt that the painting was done from a photograph,,if it was the artist must have glaucoma or simply his talents don't include realism.

the painting could have been done by a youngster. HRP

  16. Hmm so there's no picture?
So at least I get another post

Yes, the painting lacks some realism. My father painted this when he was a teenager. I do know he didn't have the artistic vision to paint what he didn't see. My point in all this is he was looking at a picture. Where is the car in the picture? Any help is appreciated.

    Thanks, Jeff

Yes it does kinda look like a paint by numbers, but there is a picture out there that was copied..I think it would be cool to find this car.

If the inspiration is from the Beach Boys cover car - Clarence 'Chili' Catallo (I thought it was Castillo) built the '32 coupe on the cover . I think his son owns it now.

  29. Well,I take your father is not with us anymore ,If so I would think he may be a heck of a lot more informed on this subject than us,,,,so you may never know where the inspiration came from,,it may be a car he himself took a photo or a photo in a magazine. HRP
