I have a '50 ford shoebox. 8ba Flatty. I recently installed new factory reproduction wiring harness, new horn relay, new horns, new battery, and 12v conversion. everything works - lights, turn signals, gauges, etc. - except the horns. When I connect the horn directly to the battery they go off but nothing from the horn ring on the steering wheel. Am I supposed to wire the horn relay differently since I converted to 12v? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!!

Could be that you have a reversed wire connected to the horn relay. It is not uncommon to have something not work exactly right after conerting from 6V pos to 12 v neg. Try a jumper from the horn wire that is going up to the horn button and then touch it to a ground. If the horn blows, then the horn button is at fault. if it dosen't, then check the relay wiring again.

get a new 12 volt relay. first check the continuity on the horn button/ring with an ohm meter. if it goes from zero to something when you push the button then you are good there.

  6. That's not such a problem.

The seatbelt buzzer on my Studebaker Hawk stopped working many years ago.

I have learned to live without it.

Yeah I know, but it I figure its better to have a horn that works in case some idiot on the road isn't paying attention . I wouldn't want to wreck my ride on the account of malfunctioning horn....and we got plenty of bad drivers out here in L.A. !!
