Looking to use a 68 Cougar hood scoop from either a GT-E or a XR7-G But I don't know if there is any difference between the two. Does anyone have one to measure across the front between air openings? What is the difference between the two?

Oh oh..... '68 you say? Prepare to move on as the Forum Police are heading your way! On the other hand if you are using it to customize something from '65 on back they may let you off with a warning.

These are GT-Es, I believe the XR7's used the top scoop. No idea on dimensions.

  5. Top scoop is the GT-E with the 427; lower is the 428 version. The very last 427 to be offered by Ford in any car, it only came with the C6 and no ram air, and was also the only 427 to feature hydraulic lifters (and detuned to 390 hp). Replaced mid-year by the 428CJ which could be had with ram air and a 4-speed.

If you have a original 427 GT-E scoop, some restorer will give you a pile of cash and a testicle for it...
