I also have a pair of the harbor freight type...but as mentioned by someone else....the swapmeet. ...Craigslist. ...and ebay are a goal mine for cheap (not harbor freight cheap) or should I say, inexpensive clamps...good old USA clamps most of these are from the swapmeet.

New import clamps do the job just make sure they line up nice and true. Some are cast so bad that things want to move as you tighten them. Especially F clamps.

The other day I put shorter springs on the front of my Ford. When trying to jack the lower control arm back up the zerc fitting was obviously in the way. Grabbed one of my kids hockey pucks and drilled a hole in the center...just happened to be a motor city puck. 1464364874108.jpg 1464364878368.jpg

How to etch your tools at home for pennies. You can put large numbers you can actually read on your sockets. Or, put your name or logo on anything metal. Uses a battery, vinegar and salt.

Even if I never use some of these I love seeing people filling a need with their own ingenuity.

Eh. Someone else did the presentation. I just linked to it.

I can do a pretty good presentation of a staircase on an Etch-a-Sketch, though.

  12. That was really cool Thank you for sharing! Hobo Jim

  13. My hands are so shaky now, that although it helps me weld perfectly, it makes it impossible for me to
do that kind of fine work. It looks beautiful, and I am in awe of his talent.

  15. Not that it get used every day- but it comes in handy when you need it.
I made this in about 15 mins. Just a Piece of round stock, turned and threaded the end to match the drill chuck.

Now here's the neat part, I figured so far it has made my life easier and save me at least 10 hours of extra work around her on various tasks, not to bad. But Today it saved a $1000.00 part and 7 hrs. The estimate from two other shops for that repair was just under $1800.00 because of a broken bolt that was inaccessible. I was done in 15 mins. They would be tickled to death if I charged them $950.00

I modified an old jack with a duck bill for spreading stuff thats real close together. Iv had the need quite a few times so it should come in handy on occasion.

It's a steering wheel puller for these old wheels that don't have the provisions for a standard wheel puller. I can't take credit for the design.
I copied what this guy did in this video.

I just made this bead roller for my press. Mostly for rolling a ridge on minibike fenders but can be used for other stuff. I even smelted the aluminum rollers in my backyard burn barrel and lathed them down
