  1. I know this is an older posting, but it is gold. I am going to make an attachment so I can plug the winch into my trailer hitch for jobs around the yard.

Timely idea on the bed winch. Any other ideas on attachment at the front of the bed? I'd rather not drill holes in the bed. Anyone use the stock tie downs on a late model Silverado, loops located low on the sides near the front?

  3. Today I was removing a miserable hose clamp, and had an idea. I got my nippers out of the tool box, and voila, it worked so well I got suspicious.
The other tool, is a 1/2 inch angle adapter I made from a spare chuck and the head of a weed trimmer. I have a handle to stabilize it, and I can add extensions for doing things such as drilling between the rafters. I had to do some machining, but it was simple to do.

  4. Moving stuff around the other day, thought somebody might get a kick out of the Rube Goldberg air control on my homemade blast cabinet. Picked up, for cheap, a foot pedal; but it was made for a pilot operated air valve, converted the 1/8" pilot line to 1/4", hooked it up to a old boom truck throttle rev up cylinder, and connected that to a ball valve to get full air flow to the blast gun. Kinda hokey looking; but works great and was only $5 for the pedal at an auction, I had the rest of the stuff laying around.

Being able to rotate 90 degrees is a great feature.

  10. Camsore, I agree with Richard D- can you share any pics of your sander during the build process... or could you take pics of the individual pieces?

    Thanks!

  11. That is a beautifully designed tool, and the ability to rotate it will increase its functionality.

Pulled the metal out of the dumpster at work. Anybody care to guess what it will become?

We have a winner ! I need to get a bottle jack and 2 large diameter bars so the anvil can be positioned. Yes, they are $99 at Horrible Freight, but I couldn't pass this up.

56Don: Taco stand? - Possibly, but those would be LARGE tacos. I do like me some Mexican though.

  17. Don't you have a problem with belt windup with no platen to sand against? I can easily separate a 2x72 belt at the joint when sanding off the platen, unless the pressure is light.

I ended up buying an inexpensive sander, which will suit my needs and not tie up my big grinder.

But it's not one third as powerful as Camsore's.

Speaking of pool pump motors; I turned mine into a buffing machine. It is great for polishing hot rod parts.

At first I thought that was built from a pedestal box that communications outfits use when they bring underground cables to the surface.
Very nicely made. Is the motor hinged on one side and the weight of the motor hanging is the tension for the belt?

The motor is hinged in such a way as the reverse torque of the motor tightens the belt.
Not just the weight of the motor but more the reverse torque that gets the job done.

The table would come in handy around here. I can't tell how you hung it from the bead roller. Can you show how you did that? Thanks.
