  1. Happy for you, those are very cool cars. Almost mysterious as they were so limited that seemed only the extra wealthy and celebrities had them when new.

That's a really nice car. Always classy. Coldwar Motors has already been mentioned. I've enjoyed watching Jim's one on there. Lots of cool details. I look forward to seeing how this one progresses. They were delivered in fleece lined covers, so I heard or read. Mart.

    Man is this cool -
Inside of the door jam is chrome ......

Sorry for the partial towel reflection.
I had to drape over the side of my C10 to prevent door dings.

One of the most beautiful cars ever built. I have been told that Ford lost money on everyone it produced
as it was a low production hand built car that never made a profit for Ford.

Cool, I have always liked those and there one of the very few cars I'd restore back to stone stock.

Beautiful Continental! And just a reminder to those who might not know: The Mark IIs were made by the Continental Division of Ford Motor Company. They are not Lincolns.

Beautiful car!! My great Aunt and her husband came to visit us in 57 with theirs. They owned a Hotel and newspaper in Indiana back then.

Beautiful car! I always liked them. I had a 67 2 dr hardtop continental, 462 in it. 5250 weight. Nicest driving and riding car I ever owned. Thats a beauty. Lippy

Yeah Jim on Cold War Motors did some research on the delivery bag promo on these. Apparently when they were shipped the bag got buffeted by the wind and the dealers had to repair the damage to the paint.

The Mk II was never designed to make money. It's purpose was to raise the image of the Ford Motor Co. and to lure buyers into showrooms so they could spend their money on cars for the lumpen proletariat.

  22. Designed by Gordon Buerhig the man who designed the 36 Cord and the 51 Ford Victoria hard top. This Continental is the best one ever. Congratulations!

Very nice! Congrats Cob! I had a neighbor back when I was in high school that had one of these. I knew nothing about it but still thought it was pretty cool.
  24. Don't know the details of your purchase, but if you want to see the current asking $$ of these things, check out the Seattle c'list. There's one posted there by a dealer.
Damned fine looking car, and when you dig into the build details of them, they are truly impressive.

Cob... Be advised the tranny comes out with the engine! Frame design and cross members nix removal from the bottom. Engine first, then transmission.
I did one at my shop in Campbell, CA. Engine from the block. Pistons were $$$, rest wasn't too bad.
An extreme job, after everything was finished the hood alignment was nightmarish. Paint was fresh black Nitrocellulose. (it was a 'white gloves job'!)
I cad plated all the removable underhood hardware, bolts/small brackets. Owner won the Concours d'Elegance at Stanford University, 1982.
These Mark IIs were truly masterpieces by Ford.
