Hot Rods Holy Crap..... I joined the Deuce club!!

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Al T, Mar 23, 2014.

  1. So I was watching the news and surfing through car ads on Kijiji yesterday morning when I saw an ad for a '32 Model "B" that had just been placed. Called the seller and found out he was posting it for his non-computer savvy friend. I went and looked at it and made a deal. The owner is taking his last drive in it today bringing it to my place. He's owned it for nearly 50 years. He's a retired body shop guy and the car was finished in the very early eighties. Paint still looks great and should clean up nice. There's a few thing's that I'll be changing. First thing will be tires and wheels and ditching the spare on the back. The hubcaps are just plain terrible. It's currently got a low mileage '79 GM V6 in it that really needs a couple more cylinders. I'll have lots of questions for you guys going forward. Thanks in advance.

  5. I was watching that car on Kijiji,
I'm surprised it was on there that long.
Glad to see someone local got it and will make some changes to it.
    Congrats!

  9. The guy had mentioned he had listed it on Kijiji prior for $40k? He had just reposted yesterday morning with a reduced price. The car was brought into the city a couple of weeks ago... maybe that's why it was still for sale? It's kind of weird that this is the first time I had seen it as I peruse the ads pretty regularly.

  10. I agree the hub caps are pretty bad. So you should sell it to me;)
Nice Find:cool: Good Luck with it!

  12. That is a sweet 5-window. I obviously am not living right. I never find deals like that.

  13. Man what a nice car, yes the hubcaps are horrible but that's easy to get rid off.

  14. What is Kijiji, another auction site?

  15. Never mind, I just checked it out. There's a nice '38 Ford DeLuxe Tudor in Sarnia for $10,000. Seems fair. Sorry, not trying to hijack this thread.

  16. Yeah, I first saw it about a year ago for $40, or $45k.
Glad you got a better deal on it.

Looking forward to seeing the changes you'll make.
Looks like a real solid start.

  20. I agree on the wheels/tires. Looks like a good score. You can make changes slowly and enjoy that one.

I would also go for a V8, but my choice would be of the Chevy persuasion. I know, I know,I've heard enough Chevy bashing to last two lifetimes. My preference is due to a life centered around Chevrolet performance.
Aside from that I'll bet that little v6 pulls that around just right for local cruising and gas bill must add to the plus side. Keep us up to date on any changes you make to put your signature on it.

  26. Very nice find. Gotta get rid of those ugly hubcaps for sure. Looks like you have a great foundation to start on. Put a nice little V8 Ford small block in it and you will have yourself a great little hot rod...:D

Sounds like you are going in the right direction with it, appears to be a solid car to build on.

  30. Congratulations,great looking car.

Visually there is nothing that can's be corrected with a screwdriver and a wrench, the hubcaps, the horn, the turn signals and the bumper overrides. HRP
