The Miami Fulford speedway was wood. Ralph Depalma set a world record speed there during its one and only race. The track was destroyed by a hurricane a few months later. The wood from the track was used to rebuild the homes in the area. It was near the intersection of NE135th and Memorial Hwy, now a housing development. Hollywood (Miami) Speedway was actually in Pembroke Pines and had drag strip and oval track. It is now under the Pembroke Isles housing development. No photos of Hialeah Speedway?? I will have to go down and check out the other photos.
i m not sure if this is the same track from what the guy says this was by pembroke road and i95 intersection. the track you are talking about was right next to the sportatorium. out west like you said i actually raced my o/t mustang there a few times before it closed.
I lived in Ft Lauderdale for several years, The Miami-Hollywood track was where we would take the cars we built to set them up. Was at the last race in 92, another track lost to progress. SPEEDY
Next time you are talking to your friend tell him Kenney Andrews 76 years old from that area { andys wheels} is still racing a open wheel modified. This Andrews family gave Bobby A his first Mod ride a crosley body/48 Ford chassis and Nail head power. A note from that track during segeration late 1950's very early 60s they had a class for black drivers . Mr Cherry owned Donnie A first modified car Buick Powered. Many times the Bean Pickers and Marty Handshaws cars would mix it up.
