The 1935 Batten Special The Batten Special is based on a very much modified 1932 Ford V8. After forty-four years of ownership the story of the car has been self-published in a 120-page hardback book in full color on art paper, A5 format. Far from being a stuffy technical treatise the book is written in a relaxed manner with elements of humor, describing who built the car, how it came to be, details of the six owner/drivers and descriptions of its race outings from early days at Brooklands Motor Course up to the present as the fastest flathead on Pendine Sands. Details of engine modifications are included along the way, from Federal Mogul heads with eight Amal carburetters on a 221 c.i. block in 1938 up to the 293 c.i. present engine with Navarro Hi-dome heads and Roadrunner supercharger. More details are on the website, along with a couple of videos of the car in action, and purchasing via PayPal for 30 GBP, postage paid to USA: www.battenspecial.com
