We had a Fairlane like that back in '69 powered by a Boss 302 stroker (336cu. in). It sat so low that we had to put a floor jack under the quick change to get to car into the garage as it would high center.

Sure miss those days when you could build most everything yourself.

I'll try to scan a photos of it when I get back. I don't know if I have posted this or not on here. This is Johnny Thomas early in the early years:

I've seen this photo in #1437. I'm almost 100% sure that it was taken at a NASCAR race at Smoky Mtn Speedway in Maryville, TN.

I love looking at all these old pictures. When I was in grade school my dad owned a 55 Chevy that he raced at the Peach Bowl in Atlanta. We won a few times , had drama even more times , but I remember all the Sunday nights and fun.

That Fairlane's pretty enough to look at twice, Falconred!

There is nothing to historic about this one. It belongs to an old car dealer up the road from my house. It disapered for about a week and someone came to there sense and dumped it back off. I looked at it once. It is basically a scary and badly engineered ride from the past. The guys name is Don I tried to buy an old dirt latemodel from him for the Quickchange rear but he wanted an astronomical amount of money for it. Some people think old and rusty mean classic, rare and expensive these days. I know he drag races a lot also.

I have known Marty myself for years and grew up racing at Hialeah Speedway here are some more of the famed 237. Bobby Brack, Joe Wincell, Booby Coyle and many other famed short track drivers have driven his cars to victory over the years.

Noticed you had one from O'Hare Sadium, early sixties. Here's a few more from the mid sixties after they cut the tops off!

Good photos from the Chicago area. I think someone else commented either here or another forum when I posted the Lutz photo - notice that it's a 63 Chevy with a 59 or 60 windshield?

Here are some of Robert Hamke at Hialeah Speedway. He relocated to the Charlotte are in the late 80's and turns out latemodel chassis for many including Kyle Busch and Kenny Schrader.

I believe it is a 61-62 windshield. The track might have had a "model year rule' requiring the older cars to have new sheet metal hung on 'em,similar to USAC and NASCAR, not to mention all the beating and banging!
