Very competative and crowd fav's. The track is Western Speedway, Victoria BC, Canada. Flat track but many had tried to conquer in the likes of Bobby Allsion, Ivan Baldwin, Jo Rutmann, and many others. The best at this track who made speed was Larry Phillips. No one could touch him the night he ran his camaro. A great guy and gentleman. he commanded respect to all and he gave it his all.

    Norton,

On the oft chance that you missed my earlier post, let me ask again.

Do you happen to have any NASCAR photos of Dave MacDonald? ... in 1963 or 1964?

    Thanks

The Kulwicki car I'm thinking of was from the 1983 Slinger Nationals Part 1. The car was white with blue #97 & had FRINGS on the hood in a blue stripe.

Thanks, MBC303. I heard from his widow shortly after I posted that.

When I first started flagging, somebody told me that flagmen didn't get along because of an "ego" problem. For some reason, myself and the other flagmen I knew never had that problem. Dick Witt, Duane Sweeney, Dan Spence, so many others and I were all good friends, and we never failed to invite a fellow flagman up into the stand with us.

I really enjoyed my association with Dick, and he was on the stand with me several times at the Mile.

He enjoyed working from the track whenever he could, just as I did, and invited me to be with him one night at Hales.

    RIP old friend.

Saw the notice on Floyd Gilbert's passing. What better place to memorialize him than right here ? Photo is Floyd at Dayton Speedway, with Keith Ploughe in the #7 and our own indybigjohn and his brother, Bob.

    Floyd was a good one.

Thanks, Vegas. Qualifying for one of those 500s, I'll bet. Loved working from the track.

Awesome thread. Looks like it'll go on forever -- and WHY NOT??? LOVE Kiekhafer's Mopars, esp. the Chrysler 300, plus the earlier Hudson Hornets.
