There is a little rust here in the lower corner. I hoping to chop most of the out and whatever is left I will have to fix.

The yellow tape is hint at the chop this is going to get. Trying to figure out exactly how much and where I am going to cut it.

The panel above the decklid is off the original quarters. Unfortunately someone somewhat cleanly cut the top part but torched the reset apart so there a little metal missing. The corners of rain gutters have about 3/8" missing in each corner

Great update!!! Looks like a 5w again!

I need to fix my panel above the decklid. It's a mess.

Chopped is laid out and about ready to start cutting. I had a really hard time deciding the chop. I have been studying 5W's hard for a while. I knew I wanted a hard chop and the post laid back, but just couldn't decide how much and to wedge chop or not. I landed on a straight 6.5" chop! What do you think.

I love the look of a mail slot back window, but I want to be able to drive the car. I decided to cut the back window out of the top and slide the window up an 1". So the back window is chopped 5.5". I like it. It helps line up the back window to match the quarter windows a little. I think it flows a little better.

  14. Great build! I am thinking this is the only way I'll ever be able to afford a '32 also.

The first time laying the top back on. Going to take a lot of relief cuts to get everything to line up.

Holy shit!!!! Man you're cooking on this thing. I spent most of this evening getting the hinge pins out of my driver side door so I could get them out. You seem to be on a record's pace.

  18. DAM man I am thinking you are going at the speed of sound on this thing...But I like it....Keep it rolling....everyone is watching now.

Everything has been moving smooth and fast so far, but I think it's about to slow down. This is the first 32 I have ever chopped. I have done a couple model a's. It's going to take some time to finish the chop and fix the top. The top is a little rough.

If anyone out there has a 32 header or at least the corners, PLEASE let me know. The inner structure seems fine, but the skin on both corners are pretty well shot.

  23. I had the same problem, my corners where toast also. I even tried to make just the corners........way to complex for me. I got a whole header section sent to me. They turn up now and then.

    Love the chop!

There is a guy in Knoxville, Tn. that may have a header for a 5 window. His ad is somewhere in the hamb classifieds, not sure how old but I think he still has them.

I talked to him. He had two and has already sold both of them. Thanks you for the heads up!

it's like putting a puzzle together isn't it? This is one project I'll be keeping my eyes on. It's nice to see something come together out of pieces.
Soooo what are the details on that Apache fleet side in the back ground of your first pictures?
