HighBoy Pics Needed...!

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by wingnutz, Jan 1, 2004.

  1. My nephew informed me that he's thinking of building a "HighBoy" for the street. [IMG]

I said "Something like a Deuce roadster"? And he said "No" something like a Shoebox, Tri-5, or "Willys Gasser" with a Straight axle! [IMG]

I said that he should see the different styles so that he has an idea before he starts collecting parts! [IMG]

He's open to many styles and I know there are some great Photo's out there if you can share some it'll be appreciated...!!! [IMG]

I read somebody describing a Henry J gasser with a big V8 in it, saying that "it handled like a wheelbarrow with a safe in it." I thought that was just a hilarious description.

    Hey Mr Wingnutz
Set up the coupe to race this past summer but due to surgury was out of action till fall, The last 3 sch events that I went to were all rained out !!!
The car ain't all that much, 455 Poncho/homemade tunnel ram, cam & usual stuff. The car is 100% homebuilt.
HOWZEVER....We have been known to street race now an again an have beat'n some impressive iron. So I'm pleased.
An ya I know street race'n ain't cool.. but......

    Slim,
    thanks for the compliment.

As far as making the right choice...alway's go with the car. Either way you may end with a shrink [IMG] [IMG]

Don thanks for sharing with us. Awesome web site. Had to take a few minutes to compose myself, still not sure. Some would say your family had some really bad times, I say you all are the luckiest people in the world for having been given the time you had with your daughter, sounds like she was an awesome girl.
Cool car! Not too many people have their first car, especially one that can tell its life story like this.
Again, thanks for sharing you and your family's story.

    To all..
Special thanks for all the kind words an thoughts...

For "reasons" I'm a bitter person but the coupe continues on doing its thing. I have this ten-dency, when I've had enough, to go out an beat the hell out of that car. You know I feel better after! Course been known to bust up a ton of parts along the way but hey... get to fix it an start over!!!
I think we sorta got off the "highboy" subect eh..
    Anyway... thanks again

You have impressed on your nephew that those gassers and trifives, no matter how high they ride, are NOT "highboys" haven't you? [IMG]
