So I decided to fab up some doors in the evenings whilst I’m workingaway in Perth for a couple of weeks. I’m gonna build a roadster back with some 40s custom ideas like sunk number plate and shaved .
I have a nice roadster cowl but no hinges. A hinges are expensive!
I’m not adverse to hanging them suicide or with hidden hinges.
    Any ideas ?

  2. I used 26/7 model t hinges on my 28 roadster pickup. I just had to lengthen the flats and redrill some holes. Model t's are/we're everywhere around here. Open model A's not so much.

30/31 Open car hinges sure look the same as 28/9 Open car hinges by a quick look at Google images. Here' some pictures of my modified hinges.

Just been advised that you Yanks don’t refer to them as “Improved” . That’s apparently an Aussie slang term for 30/31. Anyhow, either way will look forward to options.

Closed car '30-'31 A hinges are a bear to find and can run up to $50.00 each...
they are forged, the A roadster hinges are stamped and are 1/2 the price...
the roadster pin tubes are not welded, just stamped / rolled...
the roaster's are not super strong, bet you could weld a steel tube to a flat strip to make your own...
make cardboard templates and transfer the hole locations to your hinge... DSCN3426.JPG
