Does anyone know where I can get a cam or an entire spare engine?
Welcome to the HAMB. I have no idea where to find a spare engine for your '37. I am sure that there is a MOPAR or Plymouth club that you can find online that will have some idea.
if it were me I would build a hot rod out of it. so I am not going to be a good influence on you but welcome to the HAMB anyway. Stay and play there are a lot of really knowledgeable people here and someone will be able to help you I am sure.
Hi Dave and Welcome to the Hamb No info here on your parts ,but try an put some photos of your little gem up ,keeps people interested. GREAT folks on here with a ton of knowledge and knowhow. Goodluck
It would be a lot easier for people to help you find an engine if you had filled out your location when you registered here....I don't know why people are afraid of giving a general location....
WOW!! Your 4 months to late.. I sold a 53 Plymouth engine, trans, rear end with 26,000 miles on it for a give away price of $200...
Got a whole 41 truck chassis including drivetrain for sale for $500, everything but the body.
Where you at ?? There's a whole '36 Dodge engine that ran 2 years ago in my back yard ...
Now post some pictures & read the rules ...
Try the AACA....https://forums.aaca.org/forum/49-plymouth/
Hi. Post some photo's if you can. I just got thru rebuilding the 217 in my 1950 Plymouth Deluxe and found many parts from both Roberts Motor Parts www.robertsmotorparts.com and from Kanter Auto Products www.kanter.com
I just did a quick scan thru on both paper catalogs and did not see a cam but Kanter lists parts for the 201 engine including cam bearings & gear. Both have paper catalogs as well as the website catalogs. Check them out.
Have you talked to a local engine rebuilder machine shop to see if they can build up and regrind your old cam if you cannot find a replacement?
Between these two sites I was able to get everything I needed for my engine rebuild including new pistons (0.030 over), rods, bearings, timing gears, etc.
Keep us updated on what you are doing. Good luck, Jim
People worry about someone stealing their identity I think. I got a close friend (we call him sasquatch) from Iowa who put his location as Puerto Rico on Fb. I asked him why and he said he didn't want anyone to get a credit card in his name.
@Moriarity is right here my new friend ( @FL_Dave ) knowing where you are makes it easier for us to help you. Some of us may even be willing to come by and help you wrench if you are in driving distance.
A 392 hemi or 440 may be easier to locate
I know where there is a good 413. Cheap and a car motor not a truck motor.
Anyone want to trade me into a Dart? LOL
Going to take a stab at location! Fla. I have Olds and SBC motors.
I'll bet it's for Flathead!
Slopok, never thought of that one, I'm not a flathead guy. Although I occasionally play one on tv.
perhaps, but I think it more likely to avoid an ‘Ex’, a ‘skip tracer’ or bail bondsman...
You could try the boys at p15-d24.com
Hey, he was trying to locate a cam. I found new old stock 85 year old, the good stuff baby.
I said what I said in response to this
Well that and I really like 413s and tall deck 383s.
Maybe you make sence after a bottle or two.
If restoring the p15-24? site would be good. When I had a few 218's/230's I git parts from powerwagon.com? Man, been awhile.
I have a stock cam from a 218 if you want it, shipping cost and it's yours. Might be able to get it reground to what you want? I dunno, I just hate tossing things away.
Anyone want a surface rusted SBC Crower cam?
might have scared him off.........
Scratch that website I mentioned, not the same one I used.
Check out people with old farm equipment. A lot of old combines were powered by Chrysler flathead engines.
Sent from my SM-T350 using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
I know he is looking for an old mill, basically unobtanium for most of us. Someone posted that a 392 hemi or a 440 would be easier to find which you did not jump on at all. I posted in response to his post that I knew where there was a 413. Which you did jump on.
You don't get it I understand that. but now 4 times I have got the new guy back to the top and you are not required to get it.
Some jackass on here has a shitload of NOS pistons in several oversizes for those:
Looks like he got scared off (or maybe went to one of the other forums, which sounds like where he belongs).
Separate names with a comma.
