Hey folks. I have been coming across this forum a lot since I started rebuilding this Chevy 292 for a an 89 R3500 my brother gave me.
I am sinking a ton of money in this thing for fun. Clifford's blueprint with the dual Weber/headers and x pipe. 194 int 150 ex SS swirl tipped. 60 off head. 030 over bore. 0 deck. Flowmaster HP2 shorties. Corporate 14 manual granny trans. w/basic 400hp clutch.
What do think. Will it be worth anything when its done?

I love my 292. We don't talk about new boats here tho.

Kiss whatever you $pend on it goodbye.

Hi. You will like that engine when done. You are doing the same as we all do - put a bunch on dollars in an engine of our choice to get the kind of enjoyment out of it we want. It always costs too much money when you have to buy all the parts.

When I was young in the late 50's - mid 60's I drove big trucks for a living & most were at that time the Chev's & GMS's from 261 up to the large GMC's pulling large trailers. They did just fine. I do not remember what size was in my Dad's GMG that pulled the large tanker but I do remember that he had Fenton headers & dual carb intake on it and it had cam & bored. Nothing (18 wheelers) out ran that big booger back then. That would have been around 1957 - into the 60's.

The avatar on my post is my 46 Chevy Coupe engine with the 1957 235 bored 0.060 with Clifford 264 grind cam and Clifford shorty headers along with Clifford dual intake with the 2 two barrel Webbers, X pipe on dual 2.25" pipes. Added 12 volt conversion & Langdon's HEI distributor.

Still running 3 on the tree with original tranny but changed from 4:11 ring & pinion to a 3:55 & went from 600/16 bias ply's to 600R16 radials on front and 700R14 radials on the rear. I just hums down the road at 65 & around 2,500 RPM and is a daily driver. I have a 4' X 7' Teardrop trailer I plan to pull with the Coupe.

I am not going to race the car so I did not shave head or change piston style.

Near future holds conversion to tube shocks and install vintage air and a few more goodies.

Post some photo's as you go. What part of the country are you located as you likely are close to some of us.

    Jimmie
