i find myself in need of a rad. the rad shop says its to soft to repair. do they make replacments or is there another swap out thats A bolt in? mustang? falcon?
Jon, I put a 64-66 mustang unit in mine, it's not the same, but it's close... just a hair smaller, you'll need to fab new mounting plates... no big deal.
griffin has patterns for the old 61/67 econolines, plus they'll put the inlet/outlet in a differnt location if your running a non-stock engine.
I guess... just that "fab" was probably a poor word choice for what actually needs to be done there! that's all!
... here I show up expecting a respectable econoline technical discussion and this is what's goin on...
In my kid's '63 E100 we got a Falcon radiator, had the radiator shop flip the side brackets. Works great.
It really depends on what motor you have. If you have a 144/170, then you can use the '65 Mustang inline 6 radiator. I replaced the stock one in my van with one from RadiatorsUSA.com (or something like that). I think they subcontract work to local shops. Anyway, it was pretty cheap (under $100 shipped). I cut off the mounting flanges, flipped them, and welded them back on. Worked great and it never got hot. The 240 radiator is a few inches longer and needs the extra cooling surface, so the Mustang radiator won't work. The v8 Mustang radiator has inlets/outlets in the worng places IIRC. I assume you haven't swapped in a v8. That's a whole other ball of wax.
I think he's got a 170 in there, mine had a 250 out of a maverick that someone swapped in at some point. I used 3 core mustang 6cyl unit.
