since some of you men wanna act like sum str8 viejas and run your mouths about introductions and what not i decided id go ahead and properly introduce myself here i was thinking this was a site for customs, rods, and gassers, but i guess everyone wants a myspace, facebook intro..
I bought my shoebox last year and its been sitting in my yard for a whole year with no love being shown to it and well i feel it isn't right for such a beautiful car to just sit and collect dust and since im such a damzel in distress i figured i'd post here and try my luck with someone possibly either having a motor and a trani for sale or knowing someone that did. but dang! if i woulda known it was a MANDATORY thing to post an intro i would have.
I consider myself a laid back str8 to the point kinda girl and i really have no time for ignorance. i believe RESPECT IS SOMETHING YOU EARN not something you deserve regardless of your age or gender. I may not have two balls between my legs but i know I have more balls then most woman.
My goal is to get my car on the road and if thats a crime BITE ME!

Welcome from Colorado. I see you've already met the intro police. Stick around, there is a wealth of information on here if you can deal with the assholes. Good luck with the project.

Welcome! You're off to a great start :)

What type of motor and tranny do you want to put in your little Sancha Shoebox? Flathead or something newer? Tranny... 3-speed, auto?

    Regards,
    X

    ok... Ditzzy, that's a start.

A 289ci or 302ci or 351Wci engine will fit right in with the least amount of effort. Mount kits are available for the Shoebox , and loads of go-fast stuff everywhere. As for a transmission, I'd go with a AOD (has overdrive and better for gas milage) or a C4. I'm assuming you want a basic cruiser/driver Shoebox.

You might consider looking in CraigsList for the motor and tranny locally. If you foound something on this website for sale, it wouldn't be very feasible to ship it to CA (assuming good basic used motor/trans).

what you are asking for is no small effort... i.e. install different (newer) motor/trans in a Shoebox. Lots of issues and expenses just to get it to a driver.... more complicated than burping a baby, but not a complex as putting someone on the moon.

As far as the rest of your Shoebox, does it have wheels, tires, brakes, glass, wipers... the basics that work? Will the suspension need to be rebuilt?

    Regards,
    X

Its gonna be tough to build your car with that giant chip on your shoulder.

If age and gender doesn't matter and respect is something you earn, I would think joining a group as an FNG and instantly demeaning its members would get you black balled pretty quick.

And for someone who claims to be above Facebook and MySpace, you spelled with numbers twice. Do I have that "str8"?

Now start working on a build thread and welcome.

What a way to start the day! I guess this site has become a uni-sex local for wrenchheads regardless of age or manors. I've always believed you get more flies with honey than with vinegar. Rules do have purpose, even here where we are somewhat narley at times. My advise would be just to get in step and march to the music girl...You'll get plenty of help thata way.. Welcome to the best damn site in the land.

Welcome from West Texas! I have had good luck buying a complete parts car for the drive train and everything you'll need for a swap. For instance, a Fox body Mustang is cheap and plentiful. Just bought a complete 87 GT 5-speed for $200. Everything you need is right there. Good luck!
