SO-CAL Speed Shop will host a "can't be missed" workshop with world famous pinstriping guru Herb Martinez. This workshop will cover an introduction to brushes, paints, solvents, safety and of course applying the lines! Some design work will also be covered. This workshop is a must for any airbrusher or custom painter involved in the Hot Rod or motorcycle decorative arts.

Cost of the workshop is $250 per day and will include:
    • One '00 Mac series' 10 striping brush
    • One 1/4 pint can of white '1 Shot' paint (sponsored by 1shot)
    • One 4 oz Squeeze bottle of 1Shot Thinner
    • a clipboard for holding a slick paper magazine for paletting your paint. Bring a magazine of your choice.
    • Herb Martinez's Guide to Pinstriping book
There will also be miscellaneous color charts and reference guides available at no charge

You must reserve a spot for the workshop by filling an application.
A $50 deposit must be made to reserve your spot. Any further information needed is included on the application. Go to SO-CALs site to apply.

Don't wait too long because the spots will fill up fast!

i had just picked up my 65 caddy and finished the airride on it- my uncle and herbie have been neighbors for ages- stand on a chair and you can watch Herb pinstripe rides in his garage and driveway- so i got herbie cell # and asked if he would free hand some lines on my rig- we started with the trunk and did some fancy lines in grey and interlayed with white. we work our way over to the hood and i told him to have fun with it- he took it too real! i come walking up the drive way and he is cleaning his brush and was finished i was like alright he's done and my cad is ready for poor boys midnight mass 2007- i look at my hood he ran some cool line up to the middle of the hood and i look at the caddy symbol and he ran 2 lines extended out on eack sides coming to a point and he says in a laugh every caddy looks good with horns- i stood there and was like damn it- that does look like horns he laughed and in my head i was like i can't tell him to take them off He's the great Herb Martinez- so i rocked those horns for a year and everyone teased my for days on the horns and asked if i was from texas!!! lil funny i know!!

Ha ha ha! What a great story! Last year he pinstriped one of my buddies shoebox and did something real similar to the trunk lid. Like you, he drove it like that because Herb striped it, but 6 months later he repainted the car.

I will be driving my hybrid, as always. It could use some lines......and although I have dabbled in this stuff for many years I never had the nuts to just palette a brush and lay 'em down.

Here are a few, he did the fenders freehand and then filled them with one shot, it has aged to a textured finish that doesn't show up in the pictures.

Herb has striped a few of my cars. Got to be real careful giving him full freedom w/ your car though.

On the Deuce- I had Dennis Ricklefs remove Herb's work & flame it at So-Cal.
The before & after is on So-Cal's website.
