Henry Gregor Felsen Question

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by C9, Feb 27, 2004.

  1. Does anyone out there have an original HGF book?
Hot Rod, Street Rod or any others of that genre?

I'd like to know who the publisher for the first series is.
There was a reprint of six books in the hot rod genre, but I'm fairly sure that was done by a different publisher.

    Hot Rod: E.P. Dutton, 1950
    Street Rod; Random House, 1953
    Rag Top; Random House, 1954
Fever Heat; Dell Publishing, 1954 (under pen name Angus Vicar)
    Crash Club; Random house, 1958
    Road Rocket; Random House, 1960

I have later printings of these, except for my first edition copy of Fever Heat.

  3. Many thanks.

I was curious as to whether he was pub'd by a small house or not.

The six book set was, as I remember, only 2500 copies. Almost vanity press stuff. I have two sets and can check the publisher when I get home tonight if you need it. Each cover done by a different artist.

The 6-book set was done in early '90s (91 or 92?) by Group Promotions, Bob Larrivee's company that used to do all the World of Wheels car shows.

Mr. Felsen was at the SEMA Show one of those years -- I got a set signed by him -- each book, and the box.

  6. I got a set from him at one of the KKOA shows in Holland, all signed but didn't sign the box. I still love those stories.
