I hate to use the bbc but it looks like that might be the way to go on with a 4x2 intake on a 54 331, I will wait and see if tr waters cover works out later in the year.

If you are saying that the 392 and 325 pumps are the same, Trust me...although they LOOK similar they are NOT the same.

I meant they both can be rebuilt , at a good price and with good materials ,
I should have said that !!
If you are going to use a mechanical fuel pump
TR Hemi parts set me up with a sweet set of adapters
To use late model Mopar units ,
Again they may be different from mine , but I'm sure the parts are available
    For the exchange ,

I guess, if you used those inhose thermostats, it should work about like the Ford Flathead set up.

You will have a pressure build-up and no water flow until the thermostats open.

Wouldn't that be the same case if I do the chevy water pump route (no bypass)with the hoses going straight to the radiator? Thanks for all the advise.

Like I asked, what would be the difference, chevy don't have a bypass and the thermostat has to open on those as well with one hose?I know I'm over thinking but better to ask questions.

  15. Hey Gary, can you explain a little bit more about those blue hoses?
Where and how do they come from under the manifold
    Thanks !!

    31 Vicky,
I would guess the Chevy pumps will get harder to come by as well as the hemi. I went to Kanter to get an original rebuild for my 354 pump. It even had the DPCD logo. Lifetime warranty.

Sorry, I don't have a suggestion about the blower pump setup.

That particular blower manifold did not allow for plumbing into the intake rail so we went to the front and rear of the head with some hard lines.
This pic was taken during the r&d process:

...not trying to reinvent the wheel, just an attempt to keep this 392 all Mopar.

The only thing I can see about a 409 pump vs a bbc pump is maybe the depth. If it was anything special, everyone would be doing it, right?

  19. So did it work ?

I'd highly doubt the 409 will work or can be easily modified to because I had my 354 build by Lamar Walden Automotive. They are the 409 gurus, I showed them the Hot heads adapter and the chevy set up I am planing to use, they did not seem to think trying the 409 pump was an option and I'm fairly certain the 409 pump is much wider across than SBC & BBC

  21. Yeah it's about the size of the crossover.
A few posts back there's a link to a pic and a blurb about one.

Funny thing about 'customers'...the phone only seems to ring when there is a problem. Not too many 'atta-boy' calls.
This engine was shipped to England about 12 years ago and last I heard it was still terrorizing the streets in a 34 Ford. The car was on the cover of an English rod magazine last year/year before...I loose track of time these days.

The 440 type housing has both inlets and outlets where it mounts to the block. I did something similar to Gary, only I used a BB Mopar electric water pump.

  24. How common or easy to find the 440 pump hosing with passenger side lower hose?

MaMopar swapped sides in the early 70's so there should be plenty available. Also available in aluminum:

  26. When that was adapted to the hemi,
How far does the fan flange stand off the face of the block?

  27. They were used on 400's and 440's from 1973 till the end of them in 1978 or so.
