So many of us have seen the film LA Confidential which is one of the better period films of our time and which has plenty of classic cars in it which we all love. One scene in the film takes place at the Formosa Cafe in Hollywood which is a landmark Restaurant bar where movie stars of that era frequented. As many on here may or may not know, our friend and fellow hotrodder, Bonneville Racer, antique collector, and historical building restorer and revitalizer (probably leaving out something here) Old Crow Speed Shop owner Bobby Green and the 1933 group are in the process of restoring the Formosa Cafe to it's former glory. There is a contest that National Geographic is sponsoring which will award $2 million in preservation funds to various preservation projects around the country and it's all based on votes, anyone can sign up to vote and you can vote 5 times per day, every day until the end of this month. I think the Formosa which has been saved a couple times from the wrecking ball and which is partly built of an old Electric Streetcar is well deserving of these preservation funds and while this might not be considered on topic or completely relevant for the HAMB, i think helping our friend and fellow HAMBER and Hotrodder Bobby get the funding for his latest preservation project:The Formosa Cafe is the least we can do considering all this guy does to help make our hobby great. The Formosa is in 3rd or fourth place and every vote matters so vote for it five times everyday and lets help it get into first and win the race! You can go vote at

here's a little additional info at the LA conservancy Facebook page:
