I have the cold rolled steel grille surround and mesh for Dominique, but not the center part with the circle and 2 bars. Can anyone help identify the center part(s)? Thanks! 20191125_082152 (5).jpg

Can we nail down a specific year when this grille would have been installed? That would eliminate any sources newer than that date.

Sure. Should have mentioned that. Built in 1962. Thanks.

1961 chrysler 300 imagine the emblem removed and the vertical bars trimmed off, and the horizontal bars trimmed and re shaped on the ends

Nope...it said "Resembling a Chrysler 300, the grille was hand made of cold rolled steel and mesh and the emblem was picked up in a junkyard"

This does look closer than the Buick.

This kind of has the look but not the center. And I believe these are fairly rare. frontenac.jpg

I scaled that picture off the lic plate and determined the grille in that frontenac is 32 inches long point to point. I did a lot of picture measuring and scaling when I restored the dream rod. Now hold a tape measure in the opening on the car and see if 32 inches looks right compared to your pictures of the car

I went to your pic at the top and scaled off a 5 3/4 headlight and determined that the grille center is 21" long and the round part is about 3 1/4' dia

1960 Frontenac is a one year only car sold at the Mercury dealerships so that they had a car to sell in this price range. When the Comet became available, the Frontenac was discontinued.

Thanks for doing the scaling. My grille opening measures 28 inches across the middle and it's 7 1/2 inches high in the middle. The Frontenac is too big. 20200427_154140 (2).jpg 20200427_154210 (2).jpg

With all the custom touches to the car at the time, it's possible the grille piece was modified from original, a perfect match may not be possible.

Hey, Mark....with the measurements above does the 21"/3 1/4" still hold up?

sure, looks like it to me when I look at the pic of the car at the top of the thread. could be off a little bit because the photo I measured wasn't a strait on shot but is should be very close

It's interesting that all GM part's for the most part are named. But with this it's like I'm not going there to tell the world I jumped ship.

I have one of those Chrysler 300 grilles hanging on my shop wall and there is a lot of depth there that would have to be cut off, as well as shortening on all ends and then it still wouldn't lay flat because where the ends would get cut down to a point, they'd pitch up instead of down. Definitely not Chrysler 300 grille.

I've been looking hard but I haven't placed it yet. It's so oddly familiar and yet I can't seem to nail it down.

Driving ya crazy, isn't it! Looks familiar but I just can't think of what it came from. Could be an interior part. Who knows!

That's exactly the way I'm feeling. Haven't pinned it down yet.

So it looks like the bars are about 21 inches end to end and the circle is 3 1/4 inches in diameter...HELP! This is NOT the time to stump the HAMB.

did you get that from the ghosting on the mesh?

No...I got that from you. The ghosting you see was from 2 small teardrop pieces, each about 2 1/4 inches long that someone had put there a long time ago. Whoops...changed the 4 1/4 to 3 1/4.
