I am looking for the location of serial number that is on the frame of a 50 chevy (VIN is gone someone chopped it off)anyone know its location?

  2. I don't believe there is any stamped on the frame anywhere && nothing shows up in the GM RESTORATION PACKETS on THIS PAGE stating there's one on the frame either...joe

  3. I think you'll find your serial number on the A-post of the 4dr parts car you buy in a few weeks, personally.

I've never heard of second serial number stamps on the 49-54 cars, doesn't mean there isn't one, but you might ask over at www.chevytalk.org and see if they know.

There is a "frame #" stamped on the top edge of the frame about where the front seat would be located. Get a flashlight and you can read it with a mirror. I can be hard to see though. I know, at least in TX,the motor number is used on the title as the VIN in that model year.
