HELP: Shoebox Seat Springs worn out!! How do I fix them

I am in the process of recovering my seats for my 1950 ford Shoebox....I noticed that the springs are pretty soft.....Does anyone know how to strengthen them? I got my covers from automotive interiors and it came with some steel rods but the instructions didnt make too much since....Anyone have photos or advise they can share????
