How in the world do I get the steering column out of a 54 chevy car.Particularly where it goes into the steering box.I have cleaned all the crud off where the column meets the box and there are no visible bolts but its not budging.

Far as I know its not supposed to come apart...you take the whole thing out, box and column by jacking the car up high enough to slide it out underneath. The column tube is press fit and will not come out from the inside of the car. Hope this helps.
