Customs Help me remember a sectioned Advance Design truck

I remember seeing a sectioned, chopped Advance Design Chevy pickup in one of the rod magazines back around 2000 or so. It was owned by the owner of a company that built tonneau covers for modern trucks. And was painted silver and purple with the company name on the door.

Can anyone remember who owned it? Or are there photos of it around?

Is that sectioned? I see chopped, pancaked hood.

 

Always liked that truck. But, the wheels in that pic aren’t the ones that make it look right. These were way better.

 

I love that truck. I wonder what happened to it. It had something like a 5” section if I remember right?

Well it was probably close to 20 years ago that I read the article on it. Custom Rodder I think. Could be wrong but I thought it was up there.

 

Loved the build on that truck. One of the magazines covered it.

 

They have a FB page. Looks like the truck has some big inch wheels on it now.
Haven’t been able to find the build articles.

 

There was a black AD pickup truck at NSRA's york meet several years ago. It was about 3/4 scale, and parked next to a full sized AD truck. The work on that truck was outstanding, and it was painted black, which usually shows any bad body work. what ever happened to that truck ?

Sectioned, chopped and I think the roof top was sectioned.

 

Can’t pancake that hood like that without cutting that cab with it.

3 1/2" body section, far cry from 5", just sayin...……………….

 

I probably have the issue with the redo on the Gaylord truck out in one of the sheds among all my other now ruined magazine collection.
The shot of the back that I can't save off their website with my laptop shows that it probably has a 4 to 5 inch section. Now I need to go root and dig in the shed to see if I can find that issue. It's in this batch of photos from their website. http://www.gaylordslids.com/classic-stepside/#

 

Here's the tiny photo on the Gaylord site. Looks like it's sectioned below the beltline. Then they kept the stock back window and moved it down to the beltline during the chop.

 

I think you nailed it, here's a stock AD for comparison, wish it had the bed on to compare belt lines to bed! Here's a pic with the bed on, looks like that's where you would section one.

Looks to me (who knows nothing about these trucks) that the body was chaneled down to the running boards. It's chopped and the hood is cut down (sectioned?) to again meet up with the cab.

They may have done a body drop aka Channel on it as the bottom of the doors sit closer to the running boards than on a stock truck.
There is a build thread/ article somewhere that shows how they cut into the cowl and raised the opening for the fender on the cowl then cut the hood down to fit rather than section the truck.
