Help me identify these spindles and rearend

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by El Hueso, Feb 23, 2012.

  1. I am doing some work on a customers car and I'm having some trouble identifying these. The car if it helps is a T bucket originally built in the mid 70s. We are looking at swaping the front drums for discs and I need to do some work on the rearend.

The bolt pattern is the same front and rear at 5 on 4.75"

The bolt pattern on the spindles is 3.125"x3.875"

There is 10 studs on the rear differential.

Let me know if you need anymore pictures or measurements.

first guess would be Chevy car, 51-54 spindles/front brakes, and 55-57 rearend.

  6. Thanks guys! I am always in awe of the wealth of knowledge on the HAMB.

Is there a better way to identify the front spindles to really get it narrowed down before we start buying parts?

You could buy custom tube axles made up using either early Ford or the 49-54 Chevy spindles back then. Pretty sure these are the 49-54 Chevy spindles.
