Would that be considered "old HAMB"?

In this instance, Kirk, "Plum Dumpster" may be a better play?

Ian... Kirk's response is a funny joke that comes along with these naming threads. If your car had lead in it, "Marmalead" would be cool.

Why not call it "Prince" and really make people think?

Back in the 50's they were named after songs. You could listen to some old Rock and Roll songs from the 40's and 50's and pick one that fits the car. Had a friend with a candy purple one named Sweeter Than Wine. Good luck.

for youse guys that weren't there we named our cars cause it was just something we did....kind of like getting tatoos today I guess?? Anyway I don't believe show cars had names because they sold shirts; they had names because the name was on them when they went into the show...WE DIDN'T HAVE SHIRTS WITH NAMES ON THEM...we had white T shirts....The ads came later with some smart and slick sales promoters helping the aftermarket industry sell their products....NAMES probably came from guys that loved their car and named her?? Horses had names and the car replaced their horse ??? Maybe like WWII bombers were named and the vets came home and named their flivver??? Whatever started it; in the 40's, the 50's and into the 60's, we were pretty hooked on naming our cars... My first car in '59 was named "C NOTE" as it cost me a hundred bucks.....lots of guys didn't get it and thought it was because of the exhaust noise...OH WELL....Maybe some day we'll do a thread on car names...I remember many that were quite unique and had a story to go with them...and then maybe we won't; and not have to reveal our gayness to these kids...RDR

You're starting to get it. Those names are jokes making fun of people who take things too seriously.

I also had a well-known chopper called "My Little Pony".
