Can anyone help me ID this new Chevrolet oil pan. I got it with a lot of Corvette
parts. It may not be for a Corvette. DSCF0048.JPG DSCF0048.JPG DSCF0047.JPG DSCF0048.JPG DSCF0047.JPG DSCF0049.JPG It was still in the original box, but the label had fallen off.

    Thanks, Dave

I thought that it may be for a 366 truck engine, but it has been so long
since I worked on one it is difficult to remember all of the detail.

truck 265 is my wild guess. It's not a big block pan.

    • 348 Chevy, dipstick was on the driver’s side; and
    • 409 Chevy, dipstick was on the passenger side.
I've now exhausted my knowledge on W engines

  7. I also think its a W motor oil pan. Looks like the one I have.

in case you are wondering if it's a W motor pan, compare the W motor pan above, the mystery pan below. Notice anything that would make you think it's not a W? like the notch for the dipstick? and the shape of the rails at the ends? pans.JPG

  10. Yeah, I didn't even notice that. That dip stick on the side throws it off.

if you google 56 corvette oil pan, you'll find they look just like this, but no oil return fitting.

  12. I was gonna guess SBC, it's the only one I don't have any of.

    Guys
    Thanks for the input.
I can always depend on you to try to help me figure things out.
If the darned part # hadn't fallen off the end of the box I
    would have a definite usage.

W motor pan shown has 10 mounting holes per rail, total of 20. Mystery pan has 9 mounting holes per rail, total of 18.
