  3. looks like a 60's toploader for a big car - Mustang shifter mounted closer to the main body if I'm thinking well....the ID year should have a C for the 60's - D for the 70's.....after that is the year C6 - 1966, C7 - 1967 and for the D...D0-1970 and D1- 1971....someone correct me if I'm wrong...

I was at YellowBelly....looking thru your book....good resto on the goat...

Those aren't the "numbers" you need to identify a toploader 4-spd. You are looking for a number like RUG-XXX or HEH-XX.

Here's where you will find a fairly complete code list once you locate the code on your tranny:

    http://www.falcongt.com.au/toploader.html

That said, the maincase engineering number shown in your photo was used from 1968-71. The tailshaft engineering number shown is the same as used on the so-called toploader "imposter", i.e. the three spd toploader with overdrive. I don't think any "real" toploader used that tailshaft. It might be a mix and match of parts. That's common with toploaders as they tend to get changed around over the years..

Looks like a 68 Toploader - Stillrunners was on the right track.

Tail shaft is off a OD Imposter, but tranny is a 4 speed!

So what would one of these be worth?
