I recently picked up this banjo steering wheel in a box of stuff I bought at a local swap meet. A friend of mine said it looks like a late 30’s Ford steering wheel, but I thought I’d get the HAMB’s thoughts so hopefully I can identify it and pass it on to someone who needs it. Thanks
Nope , not 1936 Buick , I got one and thats not it , seaching the google picture I found this picture of a 1937 Buick dash and the spreader block that is a cylindrical piece on my 1936 Buick steering wheel looks like its rectangle block with a step around the edges so my best guess is 1937 Buick even if I never seen one ...
This is supposedly a 1937 Buick Banjo steering wheel. The 38 Buick's wheel supposedly had a step bent into the wire spokes so the horn ring would sit lower into the spokes and not be activated as easily.
I'm the farthest thing from a Buick expert, but maybe the different models didn't have the same wheel? Weren't there Specials, Century's and Roadmasters in the the 30's? I would be willing to bet that the upscale Roadmaster would have had a different wheel than a lesser model.........Don.
Similar, but the spoke separators are different and the centre hub is different. https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/id-a-banjo-steering-wheel.1010670/ Sent from my iPad using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
