That appears to be the hood mounted ornament from a 1936 Model GFL Runabout made by the Atlas Motor Car Company. That is my best guess anyways.
I thought about that also, it has no markings or part number on it, my dad has a shithouse full of old hood ornaments and we have figured out what most of them are but this guy is still a mystery. Just thought I would put it out there
I would love to see the other ornaments and I can probably identify 99% of them. I have a collection, too. John
Aftermarket, I have one hanging in my garage. Used it on my Packard when some asswipe stole my Flying lady
Due to the lack of crisp detail with the facial features I have to agree with the aftermarket crowd. HRP
I think you guys are correct saying aftermarket, I kinda had a feeling all along that it was just wanted the HAMBers thoughts!
No Club: If you ever find yourself in So. Cal/L.A.Area be sure to check out the Nethercutt Museum in Sylmar, CA. It is just North of San Fernando and last town leaving LA. It is a wonderful museum featuring historic cars, but has the largest collection of "mascots" (Hood Ornaments) in U.S. (or maybe world). If you wanted to pursue the origin of your specimen, you might send them a picture and you may get lucky with a response. Check out Nethercutt website. I'm just saying...
