    Hello,

Sometimes one thinks about the early days of drag racing and hot rods. It was a simple time and place for all creative teenagers and 20 somethings. Throw in a newer OHV V8 Motor, make a few modifications and the street legal hot rod was ready for daily driving or a full on race at the local dragstrip.

These fast street legal hot rods had everything one could want in modifications and custom touches. Great looking interiors, aluminum parts and shiny metal firewalls, etc. Plus, they were licensed for street driving as well as setting records at the dragstrip.

Some were mild, some had a little more oomph in the different builds.

Some were show quality cars that were street driven and raced on weekends.

Others were just as nice in their builds and just happen to be at the top levels in their respective drag racing national classes. “Wouldn’t it be nice…” to go back to this simple time and place to enjoy the era most of us liked for its simplicity ?

  15. I am pretty short legged so I can get away with an A or Deuce (deuce easier) with the engine set back 1 or 2 cylinders. You do have to move the seat right back against the window and use a skinny one like a boat seat or glass bucket of some sort.

I rode from Missouri to the east coast once with a buddy that had an A coupe. Tall roof, channeled, cowl cut to clear the back air cleaner. his seats consisted of a pad (I use the term lightly) across the back and a pair of cushions that just sat on the floor. I was younger then and the gas stops still got longer the closer we got to out destination. LOL

@Tim , Sam actually drove this roadster the 150 miles to compete for the Yay Hoo cup one year. ;)

My '34 pickup had an 1-1/2" padded back wall with black vinyl over it an 2 inch seat pad in 6'1" and I could stretch my legs out straight it was channeled 6 and chopped around 3-1/2. My hair brushed the ceiling but u could see out and it was a ton of fun. :) 20190219_155005_HDR.jpg
