Ok. So here's a dumb one. So I have a 5/8 Heater hose nipple that I blocked off. Problem is I used those damn rubber caps and a hose clamp. While it looks alright, it doesn't last, starts to crack and leaks. And it doesn't seem to take verry long. Any better ideas? Something that's not big and clunky? Does any one offer a heavy duty one? Thanks fellas!

  2. Is it a threaded nipple ? Put a thd cap,or pull it replace with thd plug.

Find a brass plug with an Allen head in it. Might have to use a bushing if you can't find a plug big enough.

No it's an extra nipple in the radiator. I think it was ment for a heater hose but I'm not using it

oh, you said not (dumb) and clunky..

Short piece of correct size hose, bolt the fits tight in hose and 2 clamps. Done.

I’ll never use the “ heater bypass caps” again. Had one blow up and caused me a roadside repair. I’ll take dumb and clunky if it works

If it's an aluminum nipple, just thread it and screw a pipe plug in.

I used the same caps that scotty t posted, they last about a year before they crack and leak.

One more of us who has had no luck with the rubber caps, so the clunky bolt-in-the-hose deal it is for me. I'm a relocated hillbilly anyway.

Yup that's me. Hate the rubber caps that crack. But I'm not liking the bolt in the hose deal.

a bolt in the hose will look much better if you use an allen head bolt instead of a hex head one

Or use a chrome allen head bolt.:D

  19. Is there any way you can use it for it’s intended purpose? It was put there for a reason.

I looked for something like that but never found any. They should outlast the crappy rubber ones easily.
