a good set of headers is a big focal point of the engines looks i think and i've got ideas that i like this is kinda what i'm going for i like straight up except if it rains but i still like 4 in a row or 4 into one with the later i could put tractor flappers on them an make one baffle for each side
This thing has NO room!!! bought some 25.00 swap meet specials (regular gm a body style) introduced them to the chop saw and ended up with some tiny tri-y style. redoing the front tube on the right side though....yuk. Oh well my first attempt. Louie
What the FU*K is that shit ? Didn't you ever hear of "Block Hugger Headers" before ? I want to see how you are going to change that 3rd plug back on the drivers side ! RetroJim
Easy fix for rain problem. Don't weld the pipes making contact. They will coat better and not rust between them. Carry an 8 pack of beer cans with the bottom cut out and drop them over when not driving. The Wizzard
Block Huggers are restrictive as Fuck, you might as well just run a cast manifold!, and they are also WAY too common on rods with SBC's, I like the "build it yourself headers also"!
When your building those headers from pre-owned units they weld a lot better if you blast off the old paint first. They are easier to paint or coat also without the previous crap on them.
Man, you guys cant look for a postive out of things. the headers look good, and maybe he is gonna blast em before he welds em, guys got $25 bucks in em, and the look good. look like an old headman header, plus if you look the headers are out far enough to get a plug wire on the plug. yeah, and block huggers are gay. heres a pic of some headman type headers i made.
I know these are Chassis headers but what the Hell. Talk about Tight, and they are equal length within 5 percent volumn. The Wizzard
I used a set of these Hedman Hedders on my '31 Chevy P/U They actually fit perfect. I had to move the steering box back about 2" thats it!!! They sure beat shitty block huggers. These are over the counter '68-'82 Corvette long tube headers. 15/8 primaries and 3" collectors.
Only ones I have on the hard drive right now... 347 in a Jag... they look simple, but things were tight...
These are mine on my 29 roadste, Ford Zetec 4 cylinder, and the others are my son's on his 72 Datsun 510 rice rocket. First headers he ever built! Rex
stupid simple, but that's what this build is about. out of curiosity, what are you guys paying for ceramic coating? not to the point of calling a shop yet...
