......on my clutch and brakes pedals. I'm building a 1930 5w Model A, Pete & Jakes chassis, channeled 0ver the frame, ~ 4". First they were hitting the firewall, so I modified 'em. Now the leverage isn't right, the floor-board fitment is got me baffled, etc. Got any pics or comments? Thank you
Hanging pedals or frame mounted??? Frame mounted should have the toeboard bottom inline with the pivot of the pedal and still allow for full travel toward the firewall. That way you have just a small hole in the toeboard for the pedal lever shaft instead of a long slot. The leverage and travel MUST be correct over anything else. Explain the problems in more detail or better yet, post a pic of the area and I'll bet you'll get loads of comments and suggestions!
They are frame mounted. Because I channelled it, the space between the mount and the floor is limited, and, I didn't give any thought to the toeboard when I first modified them. Hopefully, the attached picture will provide enough detail for comments. Thank you Hackerbill.
Cut the firewall out of the way and start the toeboard above the pedals. You should have the pedal arms behind the toeboard/firewall, not inside. I'm late...gotta run!!! You'll get more answers...
Well..I guess you won't get more answers! I'm surprised this just dropped off the page. Having a bit more time to look, I can see that your pedal arms aren't designed to pass thru the toeboard...or did you shorten the curved part just behind the pedal pad? Here's my opinion on what to aim for...
