Truck Marathon Gas Station 1967.jpg IMG_3217.JPG Brought this home in 1964 when I was 13, told my mom I had bought a " antique truck" she said, what year is is it??? I said 1930, she laughed and said that is when I was born, I suppose you think I am an antique. Worked on it with Dad, drove it to high school, updated it a few years ago.

  2. I was born in 1948 n always thought it would be cool to have same age vehicle. Plan would be plate to say: both 48, or something like that.
When I lived in Maui I found it. 1948 Chevrolet 1/2 ton canopy express (think fruit/vegetables selling). Surfer had brought it from Missouri then blew the 6 cylinder. When I moved to Texas I took it with me. Its been halfway across Pacific twice.

1 more car I promise, Rex Winter

  3. Can't afford a 1933 so I have a couple of 34s. This one is only a year younger than I. It has a 47 truck engine that is shall we say upgraded. The tranny also has the 3" forks & some gears. 17190752_10211857988547165_6387173994950784626_n.jpg

    Hello,

I bought my own first car with money had saved over time. It did not cost very much and I got a cool 1940 Ford Sedan Delivery in the process. It was perfect for what I needed at the time. It was my daily driver to high school and to the different beaches up and down the coast. I drove the Sedan Delivery all over So Cal and put on thousands of miles of fun. When I bought the sedan delivery in 1960, it was 20 years old. I was 16. But I owned this sedan delivery until the fall of 1964, when I was 20 years old.

I needed some help in getting to college in Northern California. It was 1964 and I had just gotten accepted. So, a new phase was beginning, as an old So Cal hot rod/drag race scene was fading for now.

So, my parents told me I had to sell my 1940 Ford Sedan Delivery in order to get a new car for that long distance driving for the last years of college. It was 400 miles away and they wanted to make sure I had a reliable car when driving back and forth for vacations and holidays. As a good son, I sold the sedan delivery and bought a new 1965 El Camino. For the next 12 years and 125k miles, it served me well.
