Looking at a 62 convertible and the steering box is mounted up in the way of everything. I can bob the frame at the firewall and go with tubing/r&p but wondered if anyone had done something different (and easier).
I have. With my car I wound up cutting the front off and installing a mustang 2 front clip. I used the clip out of a pinto actually. It was the right width and went in real easy. This was one of the best driving cars I have ever built. In the rear I used an 8.8 out of a fox body mustang. It almost bolted right in.
With that car, R & P is the way to go. Factory clips may be too big width-wise but those can be sectioned with some work. Talk to Fatman or Heidts for some knowledge.
