Was eminent domain or public money used? Or did I get the wrong information?

no eminent domain was used...public money? I'd have to let Kev or Adriene answer that one...
Eminent domain at this time of the partial demolition could only be used for things like freeways, schools, that sort of stuff...and, again, no eminent domain was used.
And, for that reason, it has been rebuilt as a privately owned drive-in that will hopefully thrive.
The only thing that was done throughout this process that was under-handed was the start of demolition of the site a few years ago. doing it without a permit to do so, and knowingly breaking the law by doing the demolition on a Sunday.
This is one of the rare examples of city officials, the property owner, the business owner and the preservationists working together in concert to reach the goal that has now become the final product.
Its all a good thing....

Yeah, I thought this was a place to talk about hot rods etc. too?.........but the first part of this thread had some things witten in it about private property rights that made me sick, I thought I read something about using eminent domain to take the property from the owner, and that the city ponied up $900,000 at some point(not the role of gov't). If none of that happened, my bad, looks like a great place to cruise. Congratulations and enjoy the place!

At the show,the owner told me the car hops were 4-10 every night,to start out with,to see how it goes.
