Technical Harmon & Collins rotor possibly to be reproduced

Discussion in 'Traditional Hot Rods' started by 41FordSuperDeluxe, Oct 24, 2013.

  1. The H&C rotor looks like it may be reproduced - we have been discussing on The Ford Barn the last few days / take a look over there and let them know if you are interested - seems like 200 pcs is the # to hit in order to kick off the project

I am not involved in the project, other then needing 2 rotors for my hop-ups
Will be cool to get the orig H&C distributors back on the cars.

So the rotor and the spacer are the two unique pieces, right? Unfortunately I keep finding H&C distributors missing both pieces. If you're gonna repop the one piece you should really repop both. It'd put A LOT more distributors back on cars. JohnnyA

There are a LOT more HC bases around than intact rotors or intermediate caps. That strange yellow plastic was not good stuff!

Should I post them in the classifieds section?

I just realized I'm the FNG here, according to my AVATAR... been too busy reading build threads to post anything.

It certainly can't hurt to throw it in "parts for sale" section. Are there any plans to reproduce the other pieces? I've got a couple beautiful H&C dual points and its nice that someone's helping to keep them running for the long haul. JohnnyA

If I get my $$ back I put in, I'll be making the intermediate cap (middle section), and then all the distributors out there can be up n running again!

Thanks Bruce..... and I'm working on the centercap. Needed to make sure everyone was happy with the first piece, one guy even cut a hole in the center of a cap and measured my clearance.....I'll see if I can upload the pic n show you. (Perfect fit, although the caps not perfect, it varies about .010" give or take between terminals...lol)

I can be contacted through email: joeATspecifidesign.net FYI :)

I few years ago back around 2010 I was contacted by a lawyer who was representing a client in CA.

At the time I had a H&C decal I my website and he asked me to remove it which I did right away.

He told me his client had recently purchased the rights to whatever remained from the original Harmon & Collins ownersand that they might go back in business again.

Just letting you know so that if you make a purchase you won't be getting in trouble.

Got a question about a 'Model#14' distributor. I only know of 2 dist. made: the magneto (Model #101); and the #1400.
My rotor is for the model 1400 dual coil distributor. Feel free to email me with any questions or concerns.... I'm making the centerplate coming soon as well ;)

H & C Mag is an 8R-101 and the model 14 preceded the 1400 the rotors are the same for both. The data tags are slightly different.
