Congrats to both of you. Its gonna be a sweet car for sure, but the lessons learned will last him a lifetime. As a "Younger?" guy, just turned 25 I'll say that you won't understand how much this is appreciated. I had a buddy here in vegas who mentored me, really helped me (IE kicked me in the ass) when i needed it. Helped me go from a "Guy who likes hotrods and stuff" to a hotrodder. He decided to not be around anymore due to personal issues, I can't blame him of course. But i learnd alot from him and will carry the lessons forever. Theres not too much reinforcement, or role models who are into this stuff. Or willing to lend a hand, Or even advice... Alotta "kids" i know would LOVE to have cars like we do, But damn where do you start...Gotta have like TONS of cash right? (See the mindset here?) fact that i built my big block chevy for less than alot of my friends spend on honda bolt on parts and engines blows um away. The best advice ill remember is "Don't f*#kin over think it, build a hotrod man. theyll never see that (*imperfection) from 3rd gear". This world looks to be made of unobtainium on the outside.
Today was a big day. The car moved under it's own power, stopped and the air suspension works............I'm pretty happy for Jesse. Enjoy a couple of minutes
I like your reaction as he let it down lol looks like all the cool stuff on her Rad car he is a lucky guy having you help him out. Jake
WOW! OUTSTANDING! I'm sure the teacher is just as excited as the pupil! What a COOL story! You guy's ROCK!
while digging through some photos, I ran across a picture of the frame with the rear suspension setup. It worked out pretty cool. I just wanted to make sure this was attached to the thread for any future reference
Congrats Sir ! KOOL ! Happy for him and you, being someone's mentor is a good thing/feeling, most of us have had at least one and I believe most of us try to be one. Your response/joy in the video says it all !
HE drove it a lot and then took it off road to do the body work........really was very cool looking for a first attempt One of the very cool side things from the build was he found a new love........Bead Rolling. We used my cheap ass bead roller ( mount in vice ) to do some panels in his car. He found that he really enjoyed doing that kind of stuff and bought a very nice motorized unit. He called and asked me to stop up with some bogus problem only to present to me a full size panel that matches the grill in my coupe.............blew my mind to say the least The entire build was so worth it
sadly, it came apart completely..........the work was started and he bought a 62 Impala SS...............the 53 is still sitting on it's cradle. It will get finished and it will be beautiful.........just not anytime soon...those wheel and tires might look familiar
