Here's an award I just wrapped up for tomorrows NorCal Knockout! It was painted by my buddy Johnny Stoer of OutLawd Paint. The laser engraved copper and stainless was done by Recognition Concepts out of Texas.

First time posting in the FAS, though I've been lurking for awhile! I'm excited to share.

These are my latest project: shrunken heads! I wanted something cool and badass to hang on the rearview in my '55 Coronet, and it was so much fun I kept making 'em! All completely handmade, real human hair, the whole bit. Here are a few examples. Hope you like, cheers!

Well here we go...finally got some cool stuff to show off!

    Lets do this!

First up....maybe the first ever lowrider?

    Slow and Low
    [IMG]

...and next up...."The Ace of the Kicking Mules" complete with some torn away frame detail I built in!

....and last up....Just finished at Born Free 4 this past weekend...and still need to build the custom frame for it.

    "Board Track Racers"

    Alright....lets keep this show rolling!

I'm pushing my scratchboard style into a combination of Van Gogh and R Crumb lately and it's fun re-scratching some of my earlier pieces. This one is a smaller piece which I sell at the shows. I try to keep the scratching under two hours but this one took a little longer. This first shot shows my drawing board which I place flat on my studio table. My design has been transferred to the surface and I use a desk lamp to highlight the faint line to scratch by. On the edges of frame are some reference photos of 55 gassers most likely from the HAMB. I randomly pick an area to start scratching and scratch where the light hits...

What you don't draw can be just as important as what you do draw. That is, the eye fills in a lot of detail like the undercarriage so I try to keep some areas minimal. The glow behind the car is done by dragging my knife away from the car as I turn the drawing board around in a circle...

I usually like to create my work in the middle of the night and try not to fall asleep with a sharp knife in my hand. The next morning I give it a few touchups and call it done. In this case I used a Rapidograph pen on the edge of the gear shift knob to slim down the fingers. If the touchups are minimal then a spraying with a clear matte finish hides small black fixes. There you have it, a basic BOMONSTER scratch of a '55 gasser...

    Gotta love Fridays!

Here's some off-the-wall stuff. I mean it really came off the wall of Alex Tremulis' Advanced Styling Studio in 1955. Alex always was intrigued by different wheel configurations and this one fits the bill perfectly. It looks to be drawn by future Thunderbird designer Jim Powers when he was in Alex's studio. Tremulis' Voisin chassis sketch and model encompassed the same diamond shape some 20 years later. The photo of Alex is thanks to The Henry Ford Museum.

If you're into these concept sketches, I just found a bunch of them in Alex's files that went along with a transcript of a tour he gave to Henry Ford II (It's posted under LIVE UPDATES on the Gyronaut page). In it he takes you through each step of the design stages. All in all, Tremulis trained over 140 students, many of whom went on to become some of the most influential designers in automotive and industrial art. Anyway...

Damn the FAS for making me wish my life away waiting for Fridays...

Those little heads are creeping me out. COOL!

Bo, thanks for sharing that method - I may have to try one of my own some time.

    Here's my entry, slightly o/t...but don't shoot me, I'm only a bass player...:D

  16. Nice work guys!

Ryan Pittsinger wanted to surprise his dad Jeff Pittsinger by having T-shirts done of their notorious St. Louis based "Duecebag" Chevy Nova gasser.

Finally did a bigger piece - a custom GAZ M21 Volga - plus some technique experimentation, which gone quite wrong, but whatever, the look is weird enough to to look cool :D Great show guys, kickass '55 Bomonster! I really like the racers, Clysdale.

    Did you remember this drawing?

I found it in an older thread , I don't know from whom it was but I used it as an inspiration for a scale model. Thank to the guy who made this drawing and posted on the H.A.M.B

I think the Mr. Horsepower logo gets overdone sometimes, (even though I'm wearing on his shirts right now), but I love what you did on that saw metalshapes girl. Really cool.
