guess I better join?
Looks good! I'm seriously jealous of your shop, though!!
Here's a little update on mine...thanks to Sonny in Virginia for the side trim...
Looks sick ! What side trim is that from ? I was looking for something like that for mine.
I like the taillights
ok i guess i will play along chopped just a little bit
Looks great man, love the taillights
Deja Vue on the sidetrim.....looks great.
yea come on rob! do something original! just kiddin , 92.4% of the GOOD ideas were already done sometime or another. Car is lookn good, one of the best being built these days. besides mine and jays of course.
update on my build. been busy working on every one elses projects. Picked up a new dropped frame, 351w, c4, deck lid, and rockers.
It's like a race, were all going as fast as we can....this is the latest on mine....all the rust is gone....
HAHA...thanks, Chris! I've realized it's hard to do something original nowadays that will look as good or as classy as what shops like Barris or other guys were doing in the '50s, so I figured I would pick the things I liked the most from my favorite shoeboxes and incorporate them into mine...
From some friendly suggestions on the east coast and Rik Hoving, I was swayed from running the stock side trim for the '54 Dodge stuff...and I'm glad I listened
Tail lights are the same as what Barris did on Chuck DeWitt's convertible...I did them back in 2010 and they should be in primer soon along with the trunk. Grill is a takeoff of the one made by Don Roberts for Bob Dofflow's '50 Ford, and side trim was inspired by Don Carroll's Gaylord-built '49 Ford and the Gator from back east, like Chris posted...
That looks good! What are your other kustom plans?
some nice shoes
nice chop, i like how its leveled and not crazy slanted like most are nowadays. and i like how you didnt try stretching the roof to its original location without doing anything with the quarter windows.
tip to other people on how to get a nice chop like dkcollard...
on a tudor sedan, if you are keeping the roof in the stock location at the catwalk the quarter windows HAVE to be stretched out accordingly, and if you keep the quarter windows short the roof has to be shortened accordingly. another words just keep the quarter windows in proportion to the roof and vise versa.
yup i think to be original now adays you have to go into the little books and use some ideas that havent been done in a while or not as much.
I'm in here's a teaser of the grille I'm making. I have more hours than I care to admit on it and I have several more before its ready for chrome.
The power plant is in my avatar.
Here's one...I did some work on!
Looks cool. reminds me a little of a 55 chevy hood ornament
That's a really nice chop...is this the one Brandon did?
Paul, your grill is looking good...post some more pics of your shoebox!
Wish I still had a shoebox. Heres my favorite one that I had, I dig the 4dr's and would love to find another. I guess some would say my '57 is a shoebox, but I think it's dumb to call tri fives shoeboxes.
You guys know there's a Shoebox Owners Group?
Lot's of good info, build threads etc.
Do you have any pics of the front? would love to see it
I do now! Thanks.
