One thing I can say about her is she is one tough chick. Not many people would have walked away from a crash like this one and ever got back in a hot rod again. Don
Yep, maybe a little more than that. She was on the interstate and it locked up and went into the guardrail sideways, she was thankfully tossed out into the grass and survived. I think some broken ribs but it could have been REALLY bad. She has spunk, that's for sure. Don
The crash was a couple years before she came this way with Denise and that was 07 (our flood that almost got Larrys 32 and the Big Olds) so I would say the crash was 05 or so.
That explains her sig line. I figured it was something like that. Does she still have that 53 or 54 Chevy with the Rayjo (?) carb setup? I miss her and Denise's road trip reports.
No doubt they are two hard core hot rodders. Back in the day when a introduction was mandatory or you would have your virtual arse kicked, Denise was the first person to welcome me to the Hamb. Both these gals have paid their dues and I have a lot of respect for both of them. HRP
Congratulations Megan! Just got my current issue or AACA's Antique Automobile and see that Megan won the M.J.Duryea Memorial Cup for 2013 for her story "1937 Lincoln Zephyr". Now I have to find the issue the story was in and read it. Bob
Anyone new to the HAMB, should be required to review a few of the incredible, epic journeys, chronicled by Megan and Denise, just as an example of the best road trip threads ever posted. I'm sure that with new and demanding jobs, it is not easy to post as much on here as in the past, but I sure miss those journeys.
With a pair of sunglasses she would have a striking resemblance to linda vahn....miss hurst...you know who i'm talking about.........lookin good.....
You guys are so sweet, it is good to be missed! Like it was mentioned earlier, I accepted a job with RM Auctions/Auctions America as a Car Specialist a couple years back and it has been a whirlwind since! I love the thrill of finding great cars to offer at our auctions and action at the auctions. I get to play cars everyday! During the auctions I work the phone desk so if watch our auction coverage on NBC Sports or Chasing Classic Cars or What's My Car Worth you'll see me taking phone bids. If you ever have a car you'd like to sell I would be happy to get you set up at one of our auctions. You can reach me by email- [email protected] I still have my '53 Chevy BelAir with the Rajo. A couple years back I bought a 1959 Chev El Camino (283ci/factory 4speed) that I am just in love with. I drive it daily when I'm home in Ohio, it's just so darn handy! Last fall I picked up a '28 Model A Phaeton that some of you saw when I took it on it's "Eastern Tour" to the Rodder's Journal Revival/Carlisle Swap/Hershey Swap. It's a lot of fun to drive and great because I can take a lot of people with me in it! I miss my road trips with Denise, they sure were a lot of fun but like I said, I'm really enjoying my car gig now. I've been able to visit so many neat collections, concours, rallys, etc- I am truly a lucky gal! I see the ol' bucket made it on the thread. That accident was in August of 2006 on the way home from the Street Rod Nationals in Louisville. The more time that passes the more I realize how lucky I am to have survived that accident and without any permanent damage. I plan to make it out some events this summer, starting with the Jalopy Showdown of course. Looking forward to seeing you guys out on the road!
It sure is great to have you chime in, with an update on your busy life. I'm jealous that you get to have all that "fun with cars", but there is nobody more deserving of that than you. Keep in touch and post some pics of that El Camino.
A friend and I had the privilege of their company for a weekend at the KKOA Salina KS years ago.... never a dull moment. They both are class acts.
That Rajo is awesome. I was jealous of it, and now you have a 59 El Cam. Glad things are going your way.
It is a 1959 with a factory four speed and a 283. It is a really crazy color I like to call "graple"- not quite gray and not exactly purple! Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
Yes, she learned that if she had been strapped into that bucket when the cockpit slammed into the guardrail, she would probably not be here today. Being tossed clear and safely into the grass is probably what saved her life. Good to see you are doing so well with the auction gig, Megan. But we do miss you on here. Don
