This car is not a production model. It was built for PR photos and auto shows. There is no tinting for the roof windows.

Boss Kettering stood with the GM XP 500, which was also introduced that day in 1956. It was a concept , but what was under the hood was the real news. It was powered by the first appearance of a functional free-piston engine.

  17. My parents took me to the 1964 worlds fair. Then in 1983, I took my young wife to Disney's World of motion. Both places had some very cool concept cars of tomorrow. I wish they would still do this stuff! I'd love to take my grandkids. Here's a couple more Vintage G.M. concepts from the fair. The truck is the 64 Bison. The Blue car is GM's little Runabout concept. It had its own built in shopping cart just for the ladies. :)[IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

I haven't checked this thread in a while. Much of what you've posted is really interesting.

@Bandit Billy What a coincidence I posted one of the photos that was shown in that article, but from another site, here on the HAMB yesterday. https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/vintage-shots-from-days-gone-by-part-2.1154030/page-184

Never knew it was THE FIRST.

Is there anywhere I can see more of these futuristic equipment concepts? Love 'em!
