@Rusty car looks so good with fenders! I had to have taken thirty photos of it tonight trying to get a single one that looks like it does in person! Very cool

I made an appearance at the drags. Stayed till I decided it was too hot. Already home.

Had a great time at the Drags. Like always there is a lot of kool stuff to check out. Couldn't stay as long as I wanted but it was worth the trip.

Obliterated my pinion yoke on the first pass, didn't even get a 60ft....Not even sure if I clocked a reaction time! Pretty sure it was softened from the heat:). Man, that was hot for us Northerners. 1350 mile RT and were back home.

Yeah I saw that from the starting line and thought "well, now we know if those tires stick or not" shitty luck to have it happen right away :/

Man! I hated to see that. Let's try it again next time.

Well upon further inspection the yoke failure was the result of rear folding up the leaf spring brackets. I guess the Towel City tires and Cal Tracs do work. I'm sure others may have seen this......but I am a little surprised.

Yeah seen that before ! Weld on some new ones then run some 1/4" strap off the back and front of the bracket half way up the tube and weld her up solid. Boxes in the spring brackets and adds a lot of strength. Should handle your problems there ;)

  26. I have never had that happen, but have also never had a car that hooked up with lowering blocks. I will take that into consideration now when building my son's car since he thinks it needs to be fast...:D

I'm not sure who owns the "Meek's Furniture" silver car, but he was puttin on a killer show! Another obvious example of a car dealing with a greasy track, but refusing to take "no" for an answer.

We were down at the traps, and having so much fun watching that it should have been illegal! Thanks to all who came and raced in our blistering heat.

I have 3" blocks on mine. I already had the perch pads gusseted to prevent what happened to Eric. I tried to put Cal-Trac bars on mine but they hang down so low on mine it wasn't feasible. So I clamped my spring pack with 2 clamps on the front side of each spring. It helped a bit but, on my second pass it broke the 5/16 bolts on the clamps on both springs which led to a pretty severe wheel hop. I'm not sure what you are building but if it's a 35-40 Ford with parellel leafs, if you modify the front spring mount by moving it to the inside of the frame rail and mounting the spring above the bottom of the tail instead of below the rail line the kits intend, it will both lower the car and give you more room for cal track bars too. The biggest mistake I made when building my 40.

Any idea what @Kerry was leaking? Looked like antifreeze. Was bummed that I didn't get to see him run
