I don't mind the bat wings but I wouldn't use the hairpins and the heim joints definitely need to go. If you sit in an open wheeled car where you can look at the axle you can actually see it bend when you go into a driveway or something similar. It'll bend from the radius rod hole up to the spindle and it seems more prevalent on a deeply dropped axle - probably more mechanical advantage with that area stretched a bit.

  2. Heim ends will work for the frame mount; but from my experience, they tend to wear and get loose fairly quickly as compared to using regular tie rod ends.

But, being I'm going to use bones now, its still ok to use heim ends to go from the bones to the frame though?

  5. Yah…another vote for regular tie rod ends on the frame mount for the bones.

lets give old Henry a break here. He engineered the fron axe for saftey too. If the weld lets go at the batwing, the spring mount will hold the axle in place. if the weld lets go at the spring(perch) mount, the axle will hold everything in place. at least until you stop to see what the hell let go!!
some of these self-proclaimed engineers on here need to look under an escort or toyota to see what is holding it's front suspension together! just kidding, but I do think his front end will work fine. The guy wants to finish the car his uncle started and never lived long enough to fine=ish, so go to it.
