Beautiful score !! I'd also be inclined to keep it in "as found" condition, looks-wise, and just go through the mechanics to make sure it's safe to drive.

One question - the car is 83 years old - how's the "original owner" in his 70's ?? :D
I think you meant the original builder of the hot rod right ?

I'd like to see it as it looked when first built; so I'd probably refresh the paint. You have a great little Hot Rod. Congratulations!

Very cool. Looks like a Hudson steering wheel to me. Hope this car gets preserved as-is, a very neat piece of history.

  20. That was a sweet finished hot rod it it's day, the builder must have been super proud. Lots of neat stuff going on including the nerf bars, don't see those anymore. Make it safe and have fun.

Very, very cool. I'd have to put on some shorter headlight stanchions, but that's just me. Congrats on the score!

  24. Wow, very cool! Congratulations on a really neat Model A!

  25. Very nice car...mind giving us an idea of auction ending bid? Would look great sitting in the basement of Autorama

I was already thinking it would look good in the basement in Detroit.

One beautiful build that I wish I had in my garage. I'd piss all the "worn out paint is cool" brigade off though as after a year of playing show and tell if would get a full restoration exactly as the original builder had if finished off with advice from the original builder.

I've always thought it was a it disrespectful to a formerly spectacular car to parade it around with scratched and wrinkled paint and rust spots showing through or a cancered out fender or body panel or a destroyed interior just because "I don't want to change or upgrade the original build"

Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't change anything from the original build and there would be no upgrades including the paint material even if I had to load he car up and haul it five states away were that paint wasn't outlawed by the states EPA but I'd bring it back to the shape it deserved to be in.

Actually that's what I meant. Don't change a thing but restore it. Leave the headlight stands. That's how they were.
